The Labour Court recommended that Traceys Shoes Limited pay Patricia Clarke an ex gratia sum of £500 in full settlement of her claim. The recommendation was signed on 28 September 1987. Clarke said she had been treated unfairly after her employer declined her request to be taken off duties that aggravated an earlier leg injury. Traceys Shoes Limited declined an invitation to attend a Rights Commissioner investigation. The Court said Clarke had a genuine grievance.
