In 1987, the Labour Court recommended terms for Allied Irish Banks PLC staff moving the Legal Department from Bank Centre to Foster Place. The recommendation was signed on 2 September 1987. The Court said some staff had felt alienated and isolated from colleagues and that the proposed transfer brought those concerns to a head. The Irish Bank Officials' Association and the bank were advised to proceed with the transfer terms in the Industrial Relations Officer's letter. The Court recommended restoring proposed overtime terms, implementing promotions within a month of a return to work, appointing a department manager within six weeks, and jointly reviewing the staff development programme.
