In 1987, the Labour Court did not recommend restricting customer collections at Irish Distillers Limited's North Mall premises in Cork. It recommended that Irish Distillers provide information to the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union for monitoring, and not increase customer collection allowances without union agreement. The recommendation was signed on 26 August 1987. The union had sought limits on collections, saying drivers were not fully utilised. Irish Distillers said customer collection was a longstanding practice supporting customer relations. The Court also recommended that the company continue encouraging customers to use its transport for deliveries.
