The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers' Union's claims against Lager Distributors Limited for a helper for a delivery driver and a 40-hour week with overtime pay. The recommendation was signed on 7 August 1987. The union said the driver regularly delivered heavy kegs to many customers and needed assistance. It also sought overtime for hours beyond 40 a week. Lager Distributors said its delivery method did not require a helper and that its pay package reflected productivity and flexibility. The Court found the payment system was not unfair and accepted that the delivery method did not require a helper.
