The Labour Court recommended a 5% pay increase for 15 months, with a minimum of £6 a week, for workers at Donegal Rubber Company Limited. It also recommended one extra day of annual leave for employees with at least five years’ service. The recommendation was signed on 31 July 1987. The Irish Transport and General Workers' Union had sought an 8% basic-pay rise, higher shift premia, more annual leave and a 20% increase for low-paid workers. The company had offered 4% on basic pay and opposed the other claims. The Court did not recommend conceding the remaining aspects of the claim.
