In 1987, the Labour Court recommended increasing Hacketts Bookmakers’ offers to experienced settlers and cashiers by £5 a week for each group, with the amended offers to be accepted by the workers. The recommendation was signed on 26 June 1987. The IRISH TRANSPORT AND GENERAL WORKERS' UNION had sought improved pay and conditions for 20 staff in the company’s Dublin offices, including a new settler/manager grade. The Court accepted the company’s position that its management structure had no such grade and did not recommend conceding that claim.
