In 1987, the Labour Court recommended a £230 payment for the final quarter of 1986 and a 5% pay increase for 1987 for 12 workers at Norish PLC. It did not recommend an increase in the cold-store allowance. The recommendation was signed on 15 June 1987. The Irish Transport and General Workers' Union had sought a 10% pay increase and a higher cold-store allowance for four truck drivers. Norish PLC cited competition and reductions in customer rates.
