The Labour Court recommended a 4% increase for workers at Bord Gais Eireann under a 26th wage-round agreement, but did not recommend shorter hours, more annual leave or an energy allowance. The recommendation was signed on 5 June 1987. The Amalgamated Union of Engineering Workers (TASS) and the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union sought a 12% pay package for 120 workers. Bord Gais Eireann said its trading and financial circumstances constrained what it could offer. The Court recommended the 4% increase for an agreement running from 1 October 1986 to 30 September 1987.
