In 1987, the Labour Court recommended that Woodfab Limited pay £130 to each of three workers transferred to lower-paid jobs, as final settlement of their loss-of-earnings claim. It also recommended an interim 2.50% wage increase from 1 February 1987 while the parties pursued a 26th-round agreement. The recommendation was signed on 22 April 1987. The Irish Transport and General Workers' Union had sought a 10% increase for 70 workers and compensation for the three transferred workers. Woodfab Limited, represented by the Federated Union of Employers, cited financial losses and said the workers had accepted the rates for their new jobs.
