In 1987, the Labour Court did not recommend the Irish Transport And General Workers' Union's claim that Lissadell Towels Limited include a special payment to weavers when calculating knotters' bonuses. The recommendation was signed on 3 April 1987. The union argued that an earlier recommendation required the extra payments to be included. Lissadell Towels said the special payment compensated weavers for maintaining normal output on an undermanned shift and did not justify extra payment to knotters. The Court said the union's interpretation of its earlier recommendation was incorrect and did not recommend conceding the claim.
