Labour Court recommends Estuary Fuels staff accept mediator’s pay proposals

In 1987, the Labour Court recommended that nine staff at Estuary Fuels Limited accept the mediator’s salary proposals and that the Irish Transport and General Workers’ Union accept and sign the grievance and disputes procedure. The recommendation was signed on 30 March 1987. The union sought improved salary scales for managerial, administrative and clerical staff. Estuary Fuels said its salaries were reasonable and competitive, and warned that further payroll costs could harm competitiveness and employment. The Court noted that the mediator had investigated the workers’ duties and salaries, recommended increases and proposed a deeper review of managerial salaries in January.
