The Workplace Relations Commission recommended that a healthcare agency urgently engage with a hospital about a worker’s indefinite ban from shifts there. The recommendation was dated 28 August 2024.
The worker said she had not attended the shift at the centre of an allegation that she impersonated another agency employee. She said she was barred from the hospital without being shown the evidence. The agency said the allegation was unproven, that another employee later said the worker was not the person who attended, and that the agency could not control the hospital’s ban. The adjudicator said it was unclear whether the agency had used all available procedures. The recommendation called on the agency to remind the hospital about natural justice and work with it on safeguards against workers impersonating colleagues.
