WRC recommends HGV driver use workplace grievance process

The WRC recommended that an HGV driver use his employer’s grievance procedure to raise workplace concerns after finding he had not exhausted those internal processes. The recommendation was dated 13 August 2024. The driver alleged bullying and harassment and said he had tried to contact HR. The employer said it had not been aware of several concerns and that he had not triggered its grievance policy. The adjudicator accepted that the email address he used was incorrect and found the employer had not been put on notice of several earlier issues. The WRC said the employer needed an opportunity to address allegations before they were escalated. It recommended that the driver consider the workplace grievance procedure and raise any outstanding issues with the employer.
