The WRC recommended that a worker’s dispute over past employment benefits be regarded as closed. The recommendation was dated 30 June 2025. The worker sought pension contributions and leave benefits for 2013 to 2019, when he was classified as an independent contractor. The employer argued that the dispute affected a group of workers and concerned matters outside the Commission’s referral scope. The adjudication officer found that it had collective implications and partly concerned annual holidays and rates of pay. The officer was not satisfied that a contract of service had been established for the period and declined to recommend the relief sought. The employer’s 2022 offer remained open to the worker.
