WRC recommends €300 after employer stopped responding to worker

The Workplace Relations Commission recommended that an employer pay a former HVAC operative €300 compensation after he received no response or information about his employment status. The recommendation was dated 18 December 2023. The worker said he was owed two weeks’ pay and €191.98 in expenses. The employer did not attend the hearing. The adjudication officer found that the worker had made every effort to contact the employer but received no response or information about his employment status, a particularly egregious situation given his almost seven years of service.
