In 1995, the Labour Court decided that Shannon Aircraft Motor Works did not come within the scope of the Registered Employment Agreement (Electrical Contracting Industry). The interpretation was signed on 5 April 1995. The dispute concerned whether the agreement applied to a worker employed by the company, which remanufactured motor and generator parts for the aircraft industry. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union argued that the worker's electrician background and motor rewiring brought the job within the agreement. The company said it was a manufacturing business and its process was mechanical.
