The Labour Court disallowed Joe Ryan’s appeal against the finding that Mountwood Fitzgerald Park Community Development Project did not penalise him for raising health and safety concerns. The determination was signed on 17 November 2011. Ryan said his contract was not renewed because he raised safety concerns. The employer denied that he had formally raised such issues and disputed that they led to the non-renewal. The Court accepted the employer’s explanation as reasonable and found no causal connection between the concerns and the end of Ryan’s one-year contract, which expired in June 2008.
