The Labour Court has directed Dublin Institute of Technology to pay Joseph Thompson €5,000 in compensation and recognise his employment as being on a contract of indefinite duration from 19 October 2008. The determination was signed on 12 August 2010. Thompson brought an implementation complaint after the institute failed to carry out the Rights Commissioner's decision. No appeal had been brought against that decision within the time limit.
