The Labour Court accepted a worker's explanation for delay in a complaint about Bank Of Ireland's decision not to appoint her to a senior bank official post. It directed that the complaint be referred to an Equality Officer for investigation and recommendation; the merits were not decided. The form was sent to the Director of Equality Investigations in error and reached that office on 14 December 1999. The worker had learned her application was rejected in the week beginning 14 June and had pursued the grievance through the bank's internal procedures from 21 June. The Court's decision was dated 3 July 2000.
