The Labour Court overturned the €7,500 compensation award to Kelley Lee after GGL Security Ire appealed an employment disability discrimination decision. On 1 May 2018, the Court found that GGL had not discriminated against Lee and set aside the Adjudication Officer’s decision.

Lee said she believed being told she would no longer be asked to act as a supervisor at Limerick Racecourse was connected to an earlier conversation about her disability. GGL said it did not know about her disability and that the client had complained about her supervision of staff breaks and smoking arrangements at an October 2015 race meeting.

The Court found Lee had not established a connection between the earlier conversation and the November 2015 decision, which followed the client’s complaint about the October meeting. It held that the complaint of disability discrimination was not well founded, and the appeal succeeded.
