The Labour Court dismissed Dusan Stipala’s equal-pay appeal against Longford Pool Construction Limited, upholding the Adjudication Officer’s decision. The determination was signed on 6 May 2016. Stipala said he was paid €10.40 an hour while three Irish comparators earned €13.40, alleging that his lower rate was due to his nationality. The company said the higher rate reflected swimming-instructor qualifications and replaced an allowance discontinued in 2011. The Court found the comparators were qualified swimming instructors and Stipala was not.
