The Labour Court rejected Mary Linehan’s appeal against a finding that her gender discrimination complaint about a temporary promotion competition was not well founded. The competition was for a three-month acting regional manager role at the National Advocacy Service; a male colleague was selected. Linehan challenged the eligibility criteria, interview process and scoring. The Court said her case largely reflected a lack of understanding of semi-structured competency-based interviews and found no basis to infer gender discrimination. The earlier decision stood. The determination was signed on 11 July 2016.
