The Labour Court dismissed a worker’s appeal over alleged discrimination in competitions for overseas visa officer posts at the Department of Justice Equality and Law Reform. The determination was signed on 14 May 2014. The Court found complaints about competitions before July 2008 were outside the statutory time limit; the merits were not decided. For the July 2008 competition, it found the interview process irregular but not discriminatory. The Court said the panel overemphasised teamwork, but accepted its explanation that the worker was unsuccessful because of her interview performance. It found no discrimination on the grounds considered and did not allow the appeal.
