Labour Court rejects airport discrimination appeal by Vytautas Jurska

Labour Court ·

The Labour Court rejected Vytautas Jurska’s appeal over gender and race discrimination claims concerning a job vacancy at Dublin Airport. The determination was signed on 5 July 2012, affirming the Equality Tribunal’s decision that the claims were not well founded. Greencaps Ltd accepted that an employee had placed an advertisement seeking a female customer services agent, but said it had already been posted when the company discovered its wording. Jurska argued that his gender or nationality explained why he was not shortlisted. The Court accepted evidence that men and women, and Irish and non-Irish candidates, were interviewed. The successful candidate was not Irish. It found Jurska’s gender and nationality were unrelated to the decision not to shortlist him.
