The Labour Court upheld the Equality Officer’s decision that the Minister For Education And Science had not discriminated against a teacher, and dismissed her appeal. The determination was dated 31 March 2008. The teacher, Ms Murphy, said illness prevented her from doing voluntary supervision and substitution duties in 2001–02, so she missed the allowance paid to teachers who performed them. The Court found she had not performed the supervisory work required for the remuneration claim. It also found the equality-clause provision did not apply to a remuneration claim, and that a willing teacher unable to do the work for another reason would likewise not have been paid.
