The Labour Court awarded Breege Murphy €3,000 after finding that Dublin City Council victimised her in three ways following an earlier successful case. The Court’s determination was dated 8 September 2003.
The council had appealed an Equality Officer’s decision that it had not discriminated against Ms Murphy. The Court agreed that the refusal of a car allowance and the handling of correspondence about her Staff Support Advisory Officer role did not amount to victimisation.
But it found that wording in a manager’s order, Ms Murphy’s omission from the 2001 diary, her exclusion from an official lunch and the way promotion information was circulated were influenced by her earlier case.
