The Labour Court increased compensation to €3,250 for receptionist Ruth Murphy after varying the original €250 award over daily rest breaks. Its determination was signed on 13 July 2017. Murphy told the Court she rarely received her daily breaks and was frequently interrupted when trying to eat lunch in a storage area. Medfit Wellness Limited said a manager had seen her taking full breaks, but conceded it had kept no records. The Court found Murphy’s evidence credible and said the company had not credibly rebutted it. It set compensation at the equivalent of approximately six weeks’ salary.
