The Labour Court rejected John Lyons’s appeal over his workplace breaks complaint against Noonan Services Group Limited, finding it was not well founded. The Court signed its determination on 3 May 2016. Lyons said he was often interrupted during his 15-minute and one-hour breaks while working as a security supervisor at the Coca-Cola site in Ballycoolin. Noonan argued that a security exemption applied and that breaks could be taken during quiet periods, with extra rest if interrupted. The Court found the exemption applied and that Lyons knew his entitlement, could take breaks when the site was quiet and did take breaks.
