Labour Court increases SuperValu worker’s award to €1,200

The Labour Court increased Daina Pulina’s compensation from €1,000 to €1,200 after Robert & Jackie Casey T/A Supervalu appealed a Rights Commissioner’s decision on breaks and daily rest. The determination was dated 30 November 2015. The Court found 16 breaches of the daily rest rule and three breaches of the breaks rule during the claim period. The employer disputed some of the daily rest breaches, argued that the original referral did not cover daily rest, and appealed the award amount. Pulina maintained that she had not received her statutory breaks and daily rest.
