The Labour Court upheld a €420 award to Antonio Lentini after finding his working-time complaint against Luigi Camilleri t/a Luigi’s Bakery well founded. The determination was signed on 10 October 2014. Lentini appealed the amount awarded by the Rights Commissioner. He said his hours had risen from 20–25 to more than 56 a week as he opened the bakery, prepared bread, stayed while the shop was open, then returned to clean and prepare for the next day. Camilleri said another employee covered the shop and that Lentini refused to use a clocking system. The Court found the employer had kept no records and produced no evidence that a clocking system had been explained to Lentini, that he refused to use it, or that he worked fewer than an average of 48 hours a week.
