The Labour Court increased Jakov Diadiajev’s compensation to €3,000 after finding breaches of four working-time rules by Goode Concrete (In Receivership). It varied the Rights Commissioner’s €500 award on Mr Diadiajev’s appeal, in a decision dated 19 September 2012. Mr Diadiajev said he had not received adequate daily rest or breaks, had worked more than 48 hours a week and had not received sufficient notice of overtime. The company’s receiver did not attend the hearing. The Court found breaches of the daily rest, break, maximum hours and overtime notice rules. It awarded €800, €1,000, €1,000 and €200 respectively. The Court said compliance was a health and safety imperative and working-time entitlements were an important social right.
