The Labour Court upheld a €4,500 award to Karim Amimer and dismissed Griffin Retail's appeal in a determination signed on 15 May 2009. The Court found Amimer worked more than an average of 48 hours a week, breaching working-time law, and noted the company admitted a breach concerning public-holiday payments. Amimer had been a store manager at two 24-hour Londis shops on College Green. He said he worked excessive hours and every public holiday without compensation; Griffin Retail disputed his claims. The Rights Commissioner had found the claim well founded and awarded €4,500 for the breaches.
