The Labour Court upheld the Rights Commissioner’s decision and disallowed Martin Patterson’s appeal over a meal break at the Carlton Airport Hotel. The Court found his complaint under the Organisation of Working Time Act was not well founded. Patterson said management interrupted his break to ask him to collect airport guests; the hotel said he could resume it after the task. The Court found he was not entitled to a break until 7.30pm and that the direction did not breach the Act. The decision was signed on 30 July 2008.
