The Labour Court upheld a €1,000 award to driver Normundas Vilcmijers in G.V.S. Limited’s appeal over bank-holiday pay. The Court found that the employer had not kept working-time records in the form required by law. Vilcmijers said he attended work on a bank holiday to load the van and received no extra pay. The company said he was not required to attend because no deliveries took place on bank holidays. The Rights Commissioner had upheld his complaint and required the company to pay €1,000 compensation. A separate determination dated 3 August 2007 corrected the employer’s name in the record from Groomes G.V.S. to G.V.S. Limited.
