Labour Court awards George Ivors €4,850 after allowing holiday-pay appeal

The Labour Court allowed George Ivors’s appeal and awarded him €4,850 compensation after finding he had not received his full annual-leave and public-holiday entitlements. The determination was dated 7 November 2003. Ivors complained that Cementation Skanska had not provided his full entitlements. The company argued that its revised contract covered holiday pay from 1 January 2001 and that the claim was late. The Court found reasonable cause to extend the time limit for specified earlier contraventions. Claims for payment for leave actually taken before 7 March 2000 were statute-barred and not cognisable by the Court.
