The Labour Court rejected an appeal by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and the Technical, Engineering and Electrical Union over annual leave at Leibherr Container Cranes Ltd. The determination was signed on 7 January 2003. The dispute concerned leave entitlement from 1 April to 31 December 2001, after the company changed its leave year to align with the tax year. The unions argued the law entitled workers to four weeks’ leave for the period; the company argued the law did not require a full four weeks for a shorter transitional period. The Court supported the Rights Commissioner’s finding that the complaint was not well founded and rejected the appeal.
