The Labour Court’s determination for Greyhound Waste Disposal Company and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union set drivers’ basic pay at €14.20 an hour. It was signed on 9 May 2005. The Court also set a 39-hour, five-day working week and overtime rates, and called for up to eight weeks’ sick pay, less social welfare, from the fourth day of certified illness. Regular and rostered overtime was to count in holiday pay. The determination said the company should stop retaining a loyalty bonus against vehicle-damage costs and refund retained deductions to affected employees. It also addressed workplace procedures, written employment terms in a language drivers understand, and individual representation by the union in grievances.
