In 1994, the Labour Court rejected Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s appeal on behalf of accounts assistant Emer Corrigan against Fujitsu Microelectronics. The Court dated its determination 22 August 1994, confirming the Equality Officer’s finding that Corrigan was not entitled to the same pay as four general operatives. The union argued that the pay scales disadvantaged women and that the Equality Officer had wrongly found other grounds for the difference. The Court found Corrigan was not doing like work with the comparators, so the recommendation stood.
