Solicitor did not discriminate against Mr. A over blinds dispute, Equality Officer finds

By Tadhg O'Sullivan

Workplace decision ·

A solicitor did not discriminate against Mr. A when he declined to write to a blinds supplier, Equality Officer Enda Murphy found in a decision dated 4 September 2009. Mr. A said the solicitor refused to write the letter because of his race. The solicitor said he advised Mr. A to return to the supplier and considered a solicitor’s letter premature. The Equality Officer found the solicitor’s account more credible and concluded Mr. A had access to professional services and was not treated less favourably because of his ethnic origins. The race discrimination complaint was not well founded.
