Aldi discrimination and harassment complaints by Annemone Der fail

By Donal Gilhooly

Workplace decision ·

The Equality Tribunal found that Annemone Der had not established discriminatory dismissal or harassment claims against Aldi Stores Ireland Limited. Equality Officer Hugh Lonsdale dated the decision 11 December 2014. Der said she faced pressure and disciplinary action after seeking promotion, and that Irish colleagues were treated more favourably. Aldi denied discrimination and said its disciplinary action followed performance and procedural concerns. The officer found no link between the managers’ conduct or disciplinary procedures and Der’s race or gender. He also found no connection between the store manager’s threatened use of CCTV and the grounds she cited.
