The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed Gerard Mooney’s complaint against St Patrick's University Hospital as out of time, without deciding the alleged penalisation on its merits. The decision was dated 21 August 2025. Mooney alleged that the hospital penalised him for making or threatening to make a complaint under the Terms of Employment (Information) Act. The hospital rejected that anything untoward had occurred and argued the complaint was late. The adjudication officer said Mooney had not been employed by the hospital for years, so the complaint failed for want of jurisdiction. No award was recorded.
