The Workplace Relations Commission awarded chef Gheorghe Danescu €5,840 on his minimum-notice complaint against Jms International Holdings Ltd t/a Shanahans On The Green. The decision was dated 6 August 2025. Danescu said he had not been paid for his final week before the restaurant closed abruptly on 13 October 2024. The respondent did not attend the hearing. Adjudication Officer Penelope McGrath also upheld Danescu’s complaints over unpaid wages and accrued annual leave, awarding €730 and €700 respectively. She found he was owed one week’s remuneration, seven days’ accrued leave and eight weeks’ notice or pay in lieu. The adjudicator said his evidence was credible and uncontradicted, and that the restaurant had operated one week in arrears.
