The WRC found Beata Kowalska’s complaint against Securispeed Logistics Limited was not well founded, rejecting her claim for €673 in gross wages for a week of sick leave in October 2024. The decision was dated 26 June 2025. Kowalska said her contract entitled her to paid sick leave if she notified her manager and supplied a medical certificate. The company argued that sick pay was discretionary. The adjudication officer found the contract made payment for up to ten days subject to the company’s discretion, and that Kowalska had no unfettered contractual entitlement to it. The officer found there had been no unlawful deduction from wages due and owing.
