The Workplace Relations Commission found Fiona Carroll was unfairly dismissed by Iss Ireland ltd and ordered €12,500 compensation for actual and prospective financial loss. Adjudication officer Patsy Doyle’s decision was dated 16 June 2025.

Iss Ireland ltd said it dismissed Carroll for gross misconduct after a fair process, citing alleged inappropriate language, derogatory comments about a former colleague, taking a photograph to ridicule her, unfair task delegation and undermining a manager. Carroll denied the allegations and said they were unsupported and unfairly investigated. The WRC found the allegations vague, a prior complaint delayed and withheld, and the investigation procedurally unfair. It also found her paid suspension punitive and the dismissal disproportionate, while concluding Carroll had contributed to her dismissal and had not adequately evidenced her loss and mitigation. The officer recommended considering an informal first step for colleague complaints.
