The Workplace Relations Commission awarded staff nurse Ivona Zacko €650 compensation after finding her public-holiday pay had been incorrectly calculated. A separate complaint about Sunday premiums was not well founded. Zacko said her payslips showed 7.7 hours for public holidays despite her 11-hour shifts. Costern ULC, trading as Trinity Care Nursing Homes, accepted that it had miscalculated the payments and said it paid the underpayment in September 2024. The WRC considered five public holidays within the relevant period and found the correction covered the two holidays she worked; the amount due for each of the three holidays she did not work was €217.58. The adjudicator found Zacko’s Sunday pay included a 30% premium, so that part of her complaint failed. The €650 compensation concerned the incorrect public-holiday calculation. The decision is dated 29 October 2024.
