The Workplace Relations Commission ruled that it could not hear Mahdi Hajjijama’s Equal Status complaint against Dunnes Stores because it was brought outside the statutory time limits. The decision was dated 21 October 2024. Hajjijama alleged discrimination and harassment on grounds of religion and race at Dunnes Stores’ St Stephen’s Green premises. He said he submitted the complaint late because he had pursued District and Circuit Court proceedings after the incident. Dunnes Stores argued that the notification was outside the legal period. The adjudication officer found that no extension had been sought and that the complaint was out of time. The merits of the allegations were not decided.
