The Workplace Relations Commission allowed Kevin Daly’s redundancy complaint against 9Th Impact and awarded him a statutory redundancy lump sum. The WRC dated its decision 22 August 2024. Daly told the WRC that he had worked for the company from 1 December 2015 until 16 February 2024, but received no wages for December, January or February despite continuing to work. He said that after his enquiries went unanswered, he assumed his position had been made redundant. The company did not attend the hearing. The adjudication officer accepted Daly’s undisputed evidence and found that the business appeared to be in financial difficulty and its need for employees had diminished. The lump sum is based on gross weekly pay of €730.76 and his employment dates. Its total amount was not specified in the decision, and payment is subject to the employment being insurable.
