The Workplace Relations Commission found in Paul Marshall’s favour on complaints about minimum notice and unpaid annual leave after M.J. Flanagan’s business closed. It ordered the company to pay €3,440 for notice and €2,580 for leave. The decision, dated 21 October 2024, says Marshall had worked for the business for about 52 years, until it closed on 16 February 2024. The respondent did not contest the claims, but said it had no funds to pay. The Commission found the eight-week minimum notice period had not been observed. It also upheld the annual-leave complaint and ordered payment for accrued leave not taken when employment ended.
