The Workplace Relations Commission rejected Edward Byrne’s claim for an additional Irish redundancy payment after finding he did not meet the statutory requirements for entitlement. The decision was dated 20 August 2024. Byrne, who worked for Ardanis Technologies while based in the United Kingdom, argued that the UK-calculated redundancy payment was €2,546 below what he believed Irish law entitled him to. The company said he had remained in the UK, paid UK taxes and was not entitled to an Irish statutory payment. The adjudicator found Byrne had not met the Act’s requirements, including the condition relating to insurable employment, and dismissed his appeal. The WRC did not direct any further payment.
