The Workplace Relations Commission found Maria Claudia Rocha’s complaint about Bny Mellon’s handling of her remote-working request was not well-founded. Adjudication officer Gaye Cunningham’s decision was dated 24 October 2024. No award was recorded. Rocha sought to work permanently from home, citing commuting difficulties, and said her request was not properly processed. Bny Mellon argued the relevant legislation did not come into force until 6 March 2024. The officer found Rocha’s remote-work request and its rejection, as well as a later request to work from home as a reasonable accommodation, all predated that date.
